What is The Pick Up Place and what is its purpose?
The Pickup Place is a consignment store for home goods and accessories. We seek to promote sustainability by offering a safe space to buy second-hand, good quality items. It is an opportunity for those who are looking to buy by visiting a place where they can compare alternatives and get everything they are looking for, and for those who need to sell their items without worry, freeing up the space they need in their home.

¿Qué es The Pick Up Place y cuál es su propósito?
The Pickup Place es una tienda de ventas a consignación para artículos del hogar y accesorios. Buscamos promover la sustentabilidad ofreciendo un espacio seguro para comprar piezas de segunda mano, de buena calidad. Es una oportunidad tanto para el que busca comprar visitando un lugar donde puede comparar alternativas y conseguir todo lo que busca, como para el que necesite vender sus artículos sin preocupación o ajoro, liberando el espacio que necesita en su hogar.

Where did the inspiration to create The Pick up Place come from?
Thinking about the future of our children and our country, we wanted to form a business that would promote sustainability and recycling. This type of store is very common in other countries, but it was not known much in Puerto Rico.
How do you choose the pieces? Do you have a process or protocol for choosing parts?
We receive everything by appointment based on the space we have available in the store, this varies every week. If you are interested in selling with us, you should send us photos via WhatsApp at (787)510-8797 or via E-mail to thepickupplacepr@gmail.com. When we have the space for your article or articles we will let you know. The time varies depending on the piece, space, type of article. If you need transportation assistance, we can help you coordinate with suppliers that have offered services to us over the years.

¿De donde nace la inspiración para crear The Pick up Place?
Pensando en el futuro de nuestros hijos y de nuestro País, queríamos formar un negocio que promoviera la sustentabilidad y el reciclaje . Este tipo de tienda es muy común en otros países, pero no se conocía mucho en Puerto Rico.
¿Cómo haces el escogido de las piezas? ¿Tiene un proceso o protocolo para el escogido de piezas?
Recibimos todo por cita en base al espacio que tenemos disponible en la tienda, esto varía todas las semanas. Si estás interesado en vender con nosotros, nos deben de enviar fotos vía WhatsApp al (787)510-8797 o vía E-mail a thepickupplacepr@gmail.com. Cuando tengamos el espacio para su artículo o artículos le dejamos saber. El tiempo varía dependiendo la pieza, espacio, tipo de artículo. De necesitar ayuda de transporte, nosotros le podemos ayudar a coordinar con suplidores que nos han ofrecido el servicio a nosotros a través de los años.

What message do you want consumers to know when buying / supporting The Pick Up Place?
Every time they buy something at The Pickup Place, they are giving a new life to that piece, they are helping the environment and they are supporting the local economy of our Country. It is a ripple effect because in addition to supporting our business, they are supporting customers who trust us to sell their pieces.
What is sustainability for you?
Sustainability for me is limiting mass consumption, reusing and reusing whenever possible, as well as promoting the responsible use of natural resources in our daily lives.
What sustainable movement are you most hopeful for?
Environmental and social sustainability. Living in Puerto Rico, I would love if we could become a more self-sufficient island, both in food and energy. That solar and wind energy can be used to provide electricity to a large part of our Island, and depend less and less on external resources.

¿Qué mensaje quieren que los consumidores sepan al comprar/apoyar The Pick Up Place?
Cada vez que compran algo en The Pickup Place, le están dando una nueva vida a esa pieza, están ayudando al ambiente y están apoyando la economía local, de nuestro País. Es un efecto en cadena pues además de apoyar nuestro negocio, están apoyando a los clientes que confían en nosotros para vender sus piezas.
¿Qué es la sostenibilidad para ti?
La sostenibilidad para mi es limitar el consumo masivo, reusando y reutilizando siempre que sea posible, al igual que promover el uso responsable de los recursos naturales en nuestra vida diaria.
¿Qué movimiento sostenible te llama la atención?
La sostenibilidad ambiental y social. Viviendo en Puerto Rico, me encantaría si pudiéramos lograr ser una isla más autosuficiente, tanto en alimentación como en energía. Que se pueda utilizar la energía solar y de viento para brindar electricidad a la gran parte de nuestra Isla, y depender cada día menos de recursos exteriores.

What sustainable lifestyle movement or habit would you like to adopt?
At the moment what I am applying is limiting the amount of things that I keep. Having only things that I have use of right now. If it doesn't have a use around the house, I take it out. We also have our home garden that provides us with delicious condiments and salads. This I would like to continue growing. But in the future, I hope not too far away, what I want is for my home to be powered by solar energy.

¿Qué movimiento o hábito de vida sostenible te gustaría adoptar?
En estos momentos lo que estoy aplicando es limitar la cantidad de cosas que guardo. Tener sólo cosas a las que le tengo uso en estos momentos. Si no tiene un uso en la casa, lo saco. Además tenemos nuestro huerto casero que nos provee condimentos y ensaladas ricas. Esto me gustaría que siga creciendo. Pero si en un futuro, espero no muy lejano, lo que quiero es que mi hogar se alimente de la energía solar.
